Who pays less

The rules differ by age, student status and nationality.

Children and teenagers

Foreign visitors aged 6 to 18 qualify for the reduced ticket. Chinese minors up to 18, including those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, enter free. Do not assume that every child under 18 enters free.

Students

The reduced student ticket is for visitors over 18 in undergraduate study or below, not adult education. Bring your ID and proof of study. A foreign student card may not be accepted, so do not count on the discount.

Seniors

The regular senior ticket is CNY 20 from age 60, for visitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Foreign seniors should not count on a reduction. The postcard senior ticket is CNY 25.

Height on the rides

Children up to and including 1.2 m ride the shuttle and the cable car free. Taller children pay the full fare. A reduced entry ticket does not give a reduction on the rides.

Real-name booking and your passport

Tickets are tied to a real name. The booking asks for your name, a phone number and your document details, and a passport is accepted. Bring the original of the document you used for the booking, because the gate checks it.

Book before the day of your visit, as soon as your date is fixed, instead of planning to buy at the gate. The scenic area has an English ticket page and a Chinese ticket catalog. If you book through a tour, the operator handles the entry ticket, and the tour description should say so.

For payment, Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay are the usual ways to pay in China. Whether a foreign card works at a given terminal or checkout varies, so set up a payment app before you travel and keep some cash as a backup. Bus operators accept cash, Alipay and WeChat for their own tours. More in travel tips.
